Varsity Head Coach - Andy Johnson

Andy Johnson enters his 18th year in coaching and his 11th year as a high school head coach,

Johnson has compiling an outstanding career head coaching record of 181 - 105, winning 2 National High School Championships, 2 state region championships, appearing in 10 state playoffs, and developed 24 NBA Players including Anthony Bennett, who was the No. 1 overall pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2013 NBA Draft, and Tristan Thompson, who was taken No. 4 overall by the Cavaliers in 2011. Johnson also helped develop 63 NCAA Division I Signees and 10 McDonalds All-Americans emphasizing his priority on player development. 

Entering his 5th season (2022 - current) leading Mountain View High School’s basketball program.  Johnson has led Mountain View to a 64 wins, including a 28 - 12 record in region play, 4 Arizona 6A State Playoff Appearances, 7 total state playoff wins, the 2023 Mesa Region Championship, and the 2023 State Championship Final Four.  During Johnson's tenure as head Coach, the Toros have maintained a 3.5 team GPA or higher every season.  Johnson Johnson was also named the 2023 Mesa Region Coach of the Year and one of the Most Influential High School Coaches in the Southwest United States by Silver Waves Media in 2026. 

While serving as Mountain View Head Coach, Johnson created The Bullseye Basketball Program which is Mountain View Youth Club Basketball Program.  The Bullseye program runs kids basketball camps (over 400 kids attended our summer youth basketball camps two years in a row) and club teams featuring over 10 club teams ranging from 3rd grade - 12th grade.  

Prior to Mountain View, Johnson served as Head Coach at Silverado High School (NV) in 2021-2022 leading the Skyhawks to a 17-9 record, Top 10 State Ranking, and developed 1st Team All State Guard Kenyon Giles who went on to star at Wichita State University being named First Team All-American Athletic Conference following his standout 2025-26 season with the Wichita State Shockers men's basketball team were he averaged 19.4ppg.  

Johnson also served as Head Coach at The Village School (TX) for 3 seasons (2018-2021) guiding the Vikings to one of the best seasons in school history in 2019-2020 with a record of 25 - 9, top 5 State Ranking, and developed 7 players that went on to play college basketball. 

In 2016-2017, Johnson moved to the collegiate level as a Division One Assistant Coach at Southern Utah University. At SUU Johnson helped develop Big Sky Leading Scorer Randy Onwuasor and recruited Freshman Leading Scorer Jacob Calloway. 

Johnson entered the college ranks after a seven year stint (2009-16) at Findlay Prep where he spent the final two years of his tenure as Head Coach. During his two seasons (2014-2016) as Head Coach, Johnson built the program into a national powerhouse. His teams combined for a 57 - 5 record, were ranked Top 5 in the USA Today and ESPN polls, won 21 games over Top 25 ranked teams, and made two Final 4 High School Tournament appearances.

From 2009-2014, Johnson spent five seasons as an Assistant Coach for Findlay Prep. While serving as an Assistant Coach, the Pilots accumulated an overall record of 215-18, qualified for the National High School Tournament five straight seasons, advanced to five Final 4 National High School Tournament Appearances, and won two ESPN National High School Tournament Championships (2010 and 2012).  

Johnson success at Findlay Prep came following a six year stint at UNLV (2004-10), where he served as a Assistant Video Coordinator and Graduate Asnt under college basketball hall of fame head coach Lon Kruger. The Rebels won the 2007 and 2008 Mountain West Conference Tournaments advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2007. 

From 2007-2010, Johnson worked as a video assistant for the U.S. Olympic Men's National  Basketball Team working with some of the top players and coaches in the world during their summer training camps in Las Vegas.   

From 2006-2010 and in 2012, Johnson worked as a Team Assistant for the New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, and the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Summer League.

Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in University Studies from UNLV in 2009.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from UNLV in 2011. 

Johnson and his wife, Jordan, have a son, Lucas. 

Kendall Wallace enters his 5th Season as Varsity Assistant Coach at Mountain View.

Wallace, a Mountain View alum, helped lead the Toros to three state Championships, ranks 1st in Mountain View High School Basketball Program History in total Career Program Points, Assists, and Steals.   

Wallace was a four year Division I College basketball player at UNLV.  

Rory Richeson enters his 3rd Season as Varsity Assistant Coach / Director of Player Development at Mountain View.

Richeson has over 30 years of coaching and player development experience. 

Richeson also serves as a coach in the Bullseye Youth Basketball Program. 

Nick Holladay enters his 3rd Season as Junior Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at Mountain View.  

Holladay led the 2025-2026 Mountain View JV Team to a undefeated Region Championship.

He also is the Head Coach of Stapley Middle School 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team.  Holladay also coaches in the Bullseye Basketball Youth Feeder Program.  

Holladay was a 2002 Mesa High School Alum, earning 1st Team East Valley Region Team and 5A Arizona All State Team.

Holladay went on to play college basketball at Chandler-Gilbert CC in 2005-2006 earning 1st Team ACCAC All Conference.  He then went on to play college basketball at BYU-Hawaii in 2007-2009.  Holladay helped led BYU-Hawaii to 2009 PacWest Conference Championship and the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division II Sweet 16.   

Chase Sevey enters his 2nd Season as Freshman Head Coach at Mountain View.

Sevey led the 2025-2026 Mountain View Toros Freshman Team to a Region Championship.

Sevey also serves as a coach in the Bullseye Basketball Youth Feeder Program.
